Mt Gambier City Band

The Mount Gambier City Band has been in operation since around 1885.

Following a loss of playing members in recent years the band is undergoing a rebuilding program which has seen it reclassified to ‘D’ Grade level in 2004. The Band rehearses for its general activities on Wednesday evenings from 7.30pm to 9.30pm at the Band Hall Lake Terrace East.

Mount Gambier is the home of the largest regional Brass Band festival in Australia held on the 3rd Saturday in November each year.

The festival, sponsored by the City of Mount Gambier, features the annual Christmas Parade watched by over 25,000 people lining the 3km route.

A jam packed weekend of fun and music making for the Brass Band fraternity held in quality venues with Australia’s leading adjudicators, is part of this tremendous weekend which has brought bands from across Australia in recent years.
