Musical Director
A vacancy for Musical Director has arisen in the City of Holdfast Bay Concert Band. Duties include conducting and selecting programs for rehearsals, concerts, competitions and marches; facilitating instrumental sectional mentoring and assisting the committee to recruit members and secure gigs.
Rehearsals are every Thursday 7:30 – 10 pm at the Music Centre, Lipson Street, Seacliff.
The band is approximately 45 members strong, of young and not so young musicians from the local area, providing a sound rich in woodwind, but a bit thin in brass instruments. We play a wide variety of music from jazz to pops, opera, musicals, old favourites and classics.
Remuneration will be per rehearsal/gig, and is negotiable, as is the starting date for the successful candidate. Applicants will be interviewed and auditioned.
Previous experience directing brass or concert bands, or orchestral ensembles is not essential, but preferred. Students engaged in a tertiary music degree/ diploma will be considered. A sound knowledge of concert band instruments is required.
